Eating & Drinking
Local – Local to Calnee there are several pubs serving food and drink. Our favourite is The Pilot which sits on the banks of the canal and has a beautiful pub garden for sunny summer afternoons and evenings. The Pilot is just a 2 minute walk from Calnee.
Gloucester Quays & Docks – The Quays and Docks which are located side-by-side offer a fantastic selection of coffee shops, bars and eateries. You will find high street chains such as Zizzi, TGI’s, Carlucci’s and Bills, Weatherspoons, but also some great local bars and eateries such as Greek On the Docks, Doctor Fosters, The Grillshed, Cafe Corretto Coffee Shop, Portico Lounge and The Tank. With all of these choices you really are spoilt for foot and drink.
Gloucester City & Cheltenham Town Centres – Both places have wonderful eateries to suit all budgets and a thriving night life with great bars and clubs. Whatever your taste you are guaranteed to find something to make you happy.
Fast Food Takeaways. As with every town and city now takeaway food is available day and night. Local to home there are McDonalds, KFC, Dominos Pizza, Kebab Shops and Indian, Thai and Chinese takeaways. Absolutely spoilt for choice.
What Else Is Local
Gloucester Cathedral – A beautiful building, most recently famous for being the home of many Harry Potter movie scenes. Its beautiful to visit, but the cathedral gardens are also great to sit in to study, chat with friends or enjoy a spot of lunch.
Theatres – Gloucester and Cheltenham boast a number of theatres showing regular live performances. These include The Everyman, The Olympus and the Playhouse.
Cinemas – There are cinemas in both Cheltenham and Gloucester. The closest is Gloucester Quays Cineworld which is huge and shows all of the latest films released. Situated in between bars and restaurants its perfect for a night out.

Fresh Air – If you like getting some fresh air there are many walking and picnic areas. Robinswood Hill, Painswick Beacon and The Forest Of Dean are all favourites of ours on a nice sunny day.
